This push to get young people in the trades seems short sighted to me. Commercial real estate and the housing market are both slowing down and twenty million working age male illegal aliens walked across our border in the past few years and many of them have some kind of trades experience. If we tell a whole generation to skip college and go into the trades, won’t that push wages down and make it much harder to find a job in the trades? Do zoomers even want to do physical labor? I don’t see how this doesn’t end badly in a few years and a lot of people are out of work because they tried to get a job in the trades. Wouldn’t it be better advice to tell these people to go to a developing country in Africa and work for 10 years and establish a career there? Seems like there is more opportunity in places like that than there is here in the US.
