Threads that get a lot of attention are reposted again after they run off the catalog. There is likely a que and some randomization so that threads that are losing traction can be dialed back in frequency and then they try them later to give them a go.
Im sure that the original shill ops get credit from their org for the replies and when the bots are reposting they get residuals from their ops. The organizations probably log metrics and look to try to maximize attention.
Knowing the audience and how to get and how to keep their attention gives you some power over discourse.
If you want to see for yourself just look at the catalog and then check back tomorrow and the next day and day after that. You will see posts with hundreds of replies, then later the same posts with less and less. Often you will even see the same replies if you go in and read them.
I like to read the posts even if they are retarded and I've seen them before.
