When the 2028 primaries eventually roll around and Newsom inevitably tries to run and has to talk to someone outside of his yes-man hype circle for the first time ever, how is he going to answer for his disastrous leadership?
One of the main reasons Trump lost in 2020 is that he was busy golfing and tweeting while the country burned down in the background.
Why is Newsom trying to emulate this? Why is he copying 2020 Trump? The only losing Trump?

Newsom is not going to be the nominee and isn't planning on it.
He wouldn't be coming out swinging so hard and putting a target on his back three years out if he was.
He is playing the role of lightning rod for the Democrat party. He is deliberately drawing the attention and anger of the Republican political apparatus to himself, a Democrat governor safely in one of the bluest states in the union, so that other potentially more vulnerable Democrat politicians can start to build their brands/ campaigns over the next few years.
