The mother of a Texas boy with special needs who disappeared in 2022 was arrested for allegedly killing her child after spending two years on the lam with the rest of her family in India.

Cindy Rodriguez Singh faces a capital murder charge in the death of her 6-year-old son, Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, FBI Director Kash Patel said on X.

After Noel went missing authorities searched the county for him, even demolishing the family’s new concrete porch and digging beneath the home, but no body was ever found.

Singh landed on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list after she absconded to India with her husband and six other children in March 2023.

She was first charged in November 2023, but was never arrested since she wasn’t in the US and hadn’t been extradited from India.

It’s unclear how Singh fell into US authorities’ custody or where she was busted.

On March 20, 2023, police in Everman, Texas, responded to a welfare check at the family’s home. Singh told authorities that Noel was staying with his biological father in Mexico.

Except, Noel had never met his biological father, who was deported to Mexico, authorities soon discovered.

Other theories built into her web of lies included a claim that Noel was sold to a stranger at a local grocery store.

Authorities weren’t able to reach Singh again, though.

Just two days after turning up at her front door, the blended family of eight flew to India with no clear plans to return. Noel was nowhere in sight.

On the family’s property, a filthy shack with just two beds and trash almost piled to the ceiling, authorities found an altar dedicated to Santa Muerte, a cult figure commonly worshipped by drug cartel members.

Singh allegedly believed that Noel, who was born premature and plagued with health issues, was “possessed by a demon” she thought would harm her then-newborn twins.

She would allegedly beat Noel frequently and would withhold basic necessities from him, including food and water, because she didn’t like changing his dirty diapers. If he tried to feed himself, Singh would allegedly beat him more.

In October 2023, police concluded that Noel was likely dead — a year after he was last seen.

Singh faces additional charges for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, two counts of injury to a child and one count of abandoning a child without intent to return.

Noel is just one of Singh’s 10 children. Six of them were taken with her and her husband to India, while the other three were living with their grandparents.
