The ceremony began with the performance of the DPRK national anthem and a minute of silence in memory of the servicemen who gave their lives in battle.

At the ceremony, the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly on conferring the titles of Heroes of the DPRK, awarding orders and medals was read out. Kim Jong-un personally presented the DPRK Hero awards to the best commanders and soldiers, and also attached medals to the portraits of fallen soldiers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kim Jong-un emphasized that the party and the state highly value the feats of the operation participants, who "defended the sacred authority and dignity of the state."

The DPRK leader separately met with the families of the fallen servicemen, expressing his condolences and support to them.
