Society runs on this existential dread however which is why the cheapest, most satisfying and readily available options must be criminalized or productivity will suffer. If that happens all of those who hedged their bets on the infinite growth machine will make it collapse because the modern economy or the average spiritually dead individual cannot handle contentment.
