>“I haven’t been able to find a single country in the world where the policies that are being advocated for blacks in the United States have lifted any people out of poverty.”
>– Thomas Sowell: The Welfare State
I am tired of the niggardly appraisals of societal issues this so called ‘scholar’ keeps putting forward.
The welfare state is absolutely essential in restoring the quality of life of the BIPOC community.
Without deliberate state intervention, the deep-rooted racial inequity cannot be reversed by markets alone.
Also, BIPOC workers are overrepresented in underpaid sectors (e.g., home care, food service) and are deliberately excluded from higher paying jobs. Wage supplements and public benefits play a crucial role in making work livable.
