I wish it didn’t have to be this way, Texans. You guys are way cooler than our liberal “allies” in New York. Wish we could be spending our time voting to fuck over New York instead, I hate those guys so much. New York hate thread

I have trouble believing California could gain seats by gerrymandering further.

Moreover, I don’t think there is an alternative to gerrymandering. Like, you could gerrymander in the other parties favor, but who would do that?

Someone has to decide where the lines go and obviously they have preferences. It’s unavoidable.

That said, the more rectangular and regular your districts look, the more likely they are “fair”.

Here is the Illinois map, btw; where the Texas democrats fled to.

It would be entirely possible to wipe out republicans entirely, but the majorities would be pretty thin.

Anyway this is where the country’s heading, pretty soon all states will be winner take all

Those thing majorities can lead to large upsets when you are fielding universally unlikable candidates with bad track records.

This. if they are able to prohibit mail-in voting, the Democrat supermajority in CA is in trouble. Also, the public is alot more invested in poll watching, as the last few elections have been so dubious. If newsom spreads the districts razor thin, as he’s proposing, he could have major upsets in more places than he expects.
