There's a trend nowadays where people want to believe smart people are also eloquent, and they cite smart communicators like maybe Feynman, Brian Cox, Terence Tao, but in reality they're all coached to speak well and specifically about topics in their field. In real life and for regular topics they're probably average communicators at best.

I spent 10 year as a WFH shut-in. It had no effect on how I do on IQ tests (mid 130s). Eat decently, sleep well, exercise and get sun somehow in the morning, and your IQ won't move at all until you're at least 50. Primarily, poor sleep habits and being grotesquely overweight and diabetic is what causes shut-ins to decline mentally. If you're here saying this, I doubt you have extroverted psycho-physiological needs, but your social ability will decline from neglect no matter what your IQ is, no way around it.

Agree. It's extremely easy to slip into neglect living life that way no matter how introverted you are. I did exactly like what you're describing and it's probably what kept me sane. I was lucky to have already had the habit of a daily workout basically beaten into me as a kid, but even that habit fell off occasionally living like that.

The real reason not to be a shut-in is the eventual, inevitable realization of what a huge waste of time it is. You don't think you'll regret it until you turn about 30, but you really do. None of us are a Newton or Tesla. I'm happy with my life now but I really wish I'd known how much there was for me to enjoy away from a computer and with other people. The regret really burns sometimes.
