The best part about wiring up these "smart homes" is I know how to disable the "smart" shit.
I for one will NEVER have all that "smart" shit in my home. I don't trust it, and there is too many issues that arise with updates to the system.

It's not. AI sucks at programming and it hasn't gotten any better in the past year. The only people who think it's taking STEM jobs are people who don't work in STEM.

fiber optics can't carry power, only data. For many aplications fiber is the wrong idea forwards. Most security cameras, and low voltage devices that require communications, can be powered off a simple CAT6 cable. But then the server racks most of the time require several 240v power sources as they really are power intensive. Generally we set up 1 240v/20A circuit for every server rack. The rack itself generally will have a transformer to distribute the power as the rack needs it, but it still can't be transmitted over glass (fiber optics)

Yes I do, because the technology is inherently limited by data, and the same datasets relevant to training LLM's are available to everyone.

The first industry to be completely obliterated by AI will be the film and animation industry. Once that happens others will start to fall. All industries will be replaced within 20 years.

While it's clear that the release of GPT-5 and it's current modality shows the expected exponential curve of development is not holding and rather it may be stalling there is still chances for based non kosher AI to overcome the flatlining.

Based AI is artificially limited. Anyone with enough GPU's and data centers could run a based AI just as good as GPT or grok. It's just a matter of resources and incentives. That has nothing to do with progression of the actual technology, which has not only plateaued, but actually started de-evolving due to the increasingly AI-saturated content on the internet.

they are on the verge of crossing the threshold where AI can start optimizing itself. When we start seeing AI companies releasing a new model every month, then every week youll know that we've crossed the event horizon. we are living tthrough the obsolescence of humanity. Wild.

I am not IBEW yet, and I am not sure I want to. I have been doing custom home residential for years tho. I work on the homes of the wealthiest people in the world. Talking homes that cost 30million dollars plus. Working on trying to get a job at my local utility provider currently. But I needed to stop smoking the devil's lettuce.
>tfw I am 3 weeks clean
And last time I looked at IBEW they wanted people who were already in trade, or could just shell out the money to take their classes. but that was 5-7 years go.

I feel that, goal is to go on my own as a solo contractor. I’m military getting out soon and IBEW has a hard on for vets so going through them to get licensed. How much were you pulling on that residential work? I’ll be clean for the most part but I’d like to be able to smoke one a blue moon with the boys, hopefully trump changes that shit to schedule 3 in attempt to get people to forget about Epstein. I’d actually low key find that a fair trade off.

The company I work for pays me 36$/hour I tried to go solo a while back, but I got raped by covid. Going solo is fucked nowadays with all the self employment taxes. My boss doesn't care about the fact that I smoke when I am at home, because I never smoke on the job. I don't understand how people can be high at work, I just can't. I turn into a bad worker, tripple guessing myself, and forgetting things that I was just told. Weed should be treated the same as alcohol, and we need to have a culture that respects that.
I forget what rapper said it but it was along the lines of
>Just because weed is legal now, doesn't give you the right to be a stupid stoner. Have some self respect and moderation.

Swarm weapons are a real world example of AI. The poor man's response is to stock a lot of shot guns.

Any other use for AI is like using computers to land aircraft on a carrier deck. It's not and should not be required. The plane always lands on the same place on the deck, wearing it out quicker. The machine doesn't really learn to improve.

You like to call it "AI" but you would have to program it to totally ignore human elements in order for it to improve on itself. We don't like that because we are entitled to make mistakes but machines are not.

AI is obviously not as fancy as people are marketing it to be. There's only one conclusion. Companies are hiding their efforts to create weapons technology. The rest of the shit won't sell. We don't need CGI movies where Hitler is the good guy.

Right now, employers want war bucks or they want to FIRE those fancy programmers and think that they can get AI to a point to where tech jobs are not needed. Where the real research is now, is not in AI, it's in quantum computing and weapon materials research. They want lasers that don't melt, rail guns that don't buckle, quantum radar that can't trace back to the source, and most importantly, they want to purge the planet of all of the worker thralls who shit up the place.

What is there to be happy or unhappy about? War is coming and you aren't going to survive it by any kind of planning. You might as well do what the average laborer does and figure out a newer and cuter way to say "suck my dick".

I don't understand the logic. They were already here when I as a kid, and have only gotten more and more plentiful.
How would working in the tech sector keep more mexicans from coming into my country?
How does having a job safe from AI make more mexicans come into my country?

I am so lost on your train of thought.
