- The US has been playing poker. It realizes its cards are bad and wants to fold, but still cash out with some perks. Ideally - fresh deals with Russia.
- Russia has been playing chess. For them, this isn’t about points but survival: either secure its future for a century or risk being crushed by European pressure.
- The EU and UK are stuck with Uno. They overplayed their hand thinking talk and sanctions would work, but reality dealt them a losing deck. Now they’re caught between two nightmares: full-scale war with Russia (possibly nuclear) or admitting defeat and giving up Europe’s ability to project power for generations.
In short:
- The US chased quick wins, realized it’s not worth it, and now wants to change the game. Ukraine/NATO no longer matter.
- Russia has always treated this as a fight for existence and won’t quit.
- The EU and UK are clumsy, still drunk on their old prestige, and now exposed, standing naked with no real power.
And Ukraine itself? - barely worth mentioning. Historically there has never been a spiral of so many bad decisions, one after another. The entity has no future to speak of.
