The lines are spread thin, there's no means to counterattack in any significant way and even if there was attrition would eat it up immediately. Morale is in the toilet and the guy running the country says he won't negotiate on anything which sounds great to NAFO people but is just idiocy to anybody else. There's hardly any volunteers anymore because they all know death is nearly guaranteed. No wonderweapons have worked but Rheinmetall's stock is up 2000% since the start, so war profiteers have done well.

The war is lost, many men have died in vain and that's a great tragedy of the modern era. But the only thing worse than that is even more men dying in vain. Everybody who isn't a complete idiot already knows this...yet the war continues.

When the Nazis were being pushed back in 1945, they knew surrender meant death, it made sense to keep fighting to reach allied lines and surrender there. Ukraine doesn't have that.

Ukrainians do want to fight. You'd be a retard if you think they could've resisted this long if nobody legit wanted to fight. But yes, with conscription you will have people dragged in who don't want to either. Maybe because they don't want to be conquered by Russia but also don't want to be the ones dying for it or maybe because they don't believe it completely.

It's a big benefit to Russia that they can drip feed the willing with payment benefits instead. I do think Putin could buttrape and disappear any complainers or put Girkin in an even deeper hole if they needed to draft but I think they predict USA will waver soon and the slow attrition of Russian lives and the economy will be worth it with permanent gains soon.
