When I lived in Germany in the 90s, the Turkish kebab shop in my little town was the BEST food at any restaurant, like even their pommes frites were good and the old ornery looking man behind the counter was cool when you talked to him, his German was really good, he'd been living in Germany since the early 80s.
Have had like 1 (one) decent kebab in the USA in the past 20 years and now I feel like I need to go back to Germany to ironically experience good restaurant food after seeing OPs post.
Feels bad because Germany ain't Germany no more :( it's why I left
