All of the rebellions and subsequent mass executions is why they are bug like now. China traditionally has been very centralized and because they have two rice harvests a year, have had a large expendable population. So any "victor" had no problem wiping out hundreds of thousands of "rebels" after they won. The Han were extremely war like up until recently.
