Have you ever noticed that when people start speaking in slogans that they have essentially stopped thinking? Common sayings like "idle hands are the devils workshop" and "gotta give respect to get respect" are kinds of propaganda and I will articulate exactly how.
The idle hands being the devils workshop is the most backwards expression of progress. Why farming was so fucking important was that we didnt have to hunt and gather as much and could store up food and therefore energy. With this we freed up our time and people invented society with it, everything from mathematics to art is the result of people with free time devoting themselves to something. To say that idle hands are the devils workshop is entirely antithesis to how society was developed and therefore if people do not have free time society cannot advance.
Sayings such as gotta give respect to get respect are flawed on the foundational bases that respect is not the baseline. Respect is the baseline and disrespect is earned. To say that the equal exchange of respect is dependent on one person being first or "the bigger person" essentially asserts that people have to earn each others respect rather than that being default and disrespect being earned.
