Because if you understand how wrestling works, the attacks aren't real and aren't supposed to do damage. But you have to "sell" your opponents attacks and make it seem like its real. By the time it was clear the nigger was attacking him for real he was already unconscious, so it was impossible to respond at that point. If others hadn't been there to restrain him he probably would have kept attacking him until he was dead.
