A lot of my favorite works star female protagonists
BUT I find it very fucking weird people who think all male media needs to be as "gender neutral" as possible but think female media should stay focused for girls (which I agree with) or that it's inherently wrong for female media to be "girly" (which I disagree with).
It's like that tweet of Dana Terrace flipping off LEGO Friends sets despite the fact that little girls LIKE LEGO Friends and it's one of LEGO's top selling lines.
You shouldn't force your insecurities on things that literal children like and ruin for them.
Not to make this an East vs West thing but I doubt you have grown ass adults saying "shonen should be more gender neutral rather than be so male focused" or "shoujo should stop being so feminine"
