That's interesting. Did they cause it? I would never even thing to ask this question until Covid came along, but now I question the whole story about Ghengis Khan catapulting plague corpses into Europe. It sounds utterly ridiculous now as I type it out.

I highly doubt these were the result of baseless accusations, i.e. without good and plausible reason.

Fun fact: medieval europeans determined it was jews poisoning wells, worsening the effects of the plague greatly. How did they do it?
Well for starters, there was no commonality between the groups who gathered together and the groups who caught the plague (this is easily checked by comparing parish records to sick people), indicated that something unnatural was spreading it.
What there was commonality between, however, was dead people and the wells they used. Lots of dead people used certain wells.
On top of this, in Italy they actually caught (((doctors))) poisoning the well red-handed and executed them.
