Huh? Being widowed is the one scenerio in which it's always been permissible to remarry. They're in fact generally treated with special kindness in the bible. There's no blame placed there unless a widow killed her own husband and since historically a widow, no longer being with her original family and having lost her husband, is a person with very limited means and especially vulnerable they have long been received with sympathy. Children and inheritance is the only issue there, especially among nobility, and betrayals and coups have arisen out of it but probably less than bastards or even just young siblings with aspersions to surpass the elder. It's divorce that historically was disallowed and it nor any subsequent marriages not recognized.
