Meth and commie retardation are good, but not a substitute for a sound military strategy.
This stupid move has damned the world to the state we are now.
Stalin would have never attacked Hitler (see Japanese pact of non-aggression), and Germany was free to do whatever in Europe.

>Stalin would have never attacked Hitler

Stalin was already planning on attacking Germany, his forces were distributed on the front in an entirely offensive position. There was a zero percent chance of war not occurring, Hitler just attacked first.

Hitler is such a retard he should've focused on North Africa and the middle east. He would've rolled them easily like pancakes and get all the oil that he needed.

Playing defense was a far wiser choice before Britain fell.

>Stalin would have never attacked Hitler
Stalin was byilding up troops on the border and moving his supply lines forward. He was going to invade 100%, Germany could either wait to be invaded or invade. Given how quickly they overran France and pushed the British off the continent, plus the Russian Empire's poor WWI performance and winter war performance, it wasn't unreasonable to think it better to invade than wait for Stalin to continue building up his forces. I don't think the high command was overconfident, just reacting as best they could to a shitty situation. Don't forget that Germany also needed the petroleum in the Ukraine since they had lost North Africa. If anything they should have had the Nips hold off on Pearl Harbor and kept Zhukov tied up in the East. Easy to armchair though.

The theory of empire would explain this by saying that it needed to keep trying to conquer territory to keep the economy afloat and that the same situation is now happening where Russia can’t stop after beating Ukraine

Stalin would have attacked from the East if he had, where Stalin had a significant advantage in men, tanks, aircraft, etc.

look at the table in pic related for ratios of arms and armor.

Defense would mean playing for time and time was entirely on the side of the allies. A quick decisive victory was Germany's only hope, but they failed because of the Soviet military advantage.

Now, come on, you are quoting the fucking Rezun, of all the people.
Huge army is necessary in times of questionable peace and said army should always be nearby.
Fact is, Stalin never attacked Hitler and it's only the infinite retardation of Kwantung army leadership which led to attack on Japan.

This was debunked and was a misrepresentation.

USSR was literally trading Germany massive quantities of natural resources up until the invasion. They wouldn't feed the German war machine had they wanted to attack. It's more stupid chud historical revisionism from complete chinlet incels.

Explain why a country with incompetent army would attack the strongest power in Europe with which it had just signed a non-aggression pact.

>, Stalin never attacked Hitler
He didn't feel the time was right, Molotov said it was because of Stalin's paranoia that Hitler had come to some agreement with Britain after Hess's flight to Scotland.
>y in times of questionable peace
In Stalin's own speech to the cadets he made it clear he was no longer looking for peace. His earlier positions in negotiations with Germany also made it clear to Hitler that since Hitler wouldn't hand over more of Bulgaria or Romania to Stalin, Stalin would fight over it.

>This was debunked
It wasn't
>hey wouldn't feed the German war machine had they wanted to attack
They would if they thought they could win anyway as long as they delayed the attack for the right moment.
>>515610605
>incompetent
Stalin had been actively reforming and rearming the army and indeed the Soviet army was already different, more mechanized, better equipped, more competently led than the one that floundered in Finland.

>delayed
There was no delaying. USSR was helping Germany grow and expand. Without Soviet oil, rubber, metals, and other resources, the German Reich wouldn't have grown as powerful as it did.

I don't get what the point is in trying to justify Operation Barbarossa because the SoViEtS wOuLd HaVe aTtAcKeD. Just admit the Nazis fucked up, backstabbed Stalin due to ideological beliefs, and suffered the consequences for it.

>USSR was helping Germany grow and expand.

Yes at first. You seem to fundamentally not understand Stalin's overall geopolitical strategy so I'll summarize it for you. Stalin wanted Germany to first the rest of the west ultiamtely weakening both sides so that Stalin could swoop in and conquer all of Europe.

This strategy failed however after 1940 when France was so easily and quickly defeated. Stalin hoped for the conflict to continue however with possible a German invasion of Britain so delayed a while. When it became clear Hitler had no interest in a further war with Britain Stalin was then in a conundrum.

If he attacked Germany, Germany could no longer weaken Britain for him. If he sided with Britain, Germany would attack the USSR.

By the time of April 1941 and his cadets speech he had decided on war with Germany as Hitler refused to concede to anymore of Stalin's territorial demands in Eastern Europe (Romania Bulgaria, etc) making war inevitable. The only question by that point was when the war would start and who would start it, not "if" there would be a war, that was already determined.
