freak eye operation
only 33 surgeons in the whole world are able to do it

mans tooth was transplanted onto his left eye

https://www.mtvuutiset.fi/artikkeli/miehen-nako-pelastettiin-siirtamalla-hammas-silmaan/9223126

surgeons removed mans molar tooth and drilled an optical lense onto it

it was installed into his eye which had non functioning lense and various other tissue which also was non functional, but he did have functional optic nerve

then the nerves of molar tooth connected to the optic nerve all on their own once it had been growing in his eye for a while

his blind eye now became a fully seeing eye

HOWEVER it doesnt look like an actual human eye, but it works so he should be happy

"it was unreal, after so many years I am able to see again properly and start to remember how the world actually looks like" he said

He also said he will return to work from his pension which he had to take due to being disabled from bad eyesight. He is in his early 40s.

>The surgery was paid from tax payers money, not by him, he had to sign papers which make surgeons not be responsible if something goes terribly wrong, but it didnt go wrong so all is fine.

Canadian Brent Chapman lost :n mukaanalmost total sight at age 13 after receiving a severe allergic reaction to ibuprofen.
The reaction led to Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a rare but life-threatening drug hypersensitivity. It burned large parts of his body and permanently damaged his eyes. Chapman lost his left eye completely and his right eye remained almost blind.
Over the past 20 years, nearly 50 eye surgery has been performed on Chapman, the 34-year-old, which has been mostly corneal transplants and has not helped.

This reminds me, I'm scared of getting LASEK cause of like, the 4% chance that something goes so wrong and I'm forced to live with that pain for the rest of my life until I eventually commit suicide.
More common than you think btw

I dont understand peoples need to get laser surgeries, unless you have like REAL bad sight

Eye glasses arent so bad to use afterall, comparing the risks on the alternatives

thats really great story and it should be covered with news headlines worldwide.

Chapman plans to return to his job as a masseuse and travel. Japan is at the top of the list of destinations. Above all, he plans to enjoy life that blindness had been limiting for decades.

lol, he might get dissapointed

Kind of a pain if you're an avid swimmer, which I am, but yeah most people get it cause they think they look better without them

Like you said though, the risk is too much for me
