if the south had been genocided or otherwise depopulated(white and black southerners included) like sherman and sheridan had wanted(but were prevented from doing by lincoln out of fear of international reaction) and repopulated by whites from the northern states, how much better off would america have been?
its well known that most things wrong with America today originated from the south, but would the slow repopulation and rebuilding of the south and destruction of southern (((culture))) by enterprising northern whites like lincoln had originally planned with reconstruction have been able to change that, or is it just an inherently cursed land doomed by the heat?
