I don't think people get why companies were fine by this. Trump just played the winning hand here, he gave companies a reason to fire jeets so they can stagnate wages to the average US citizen. Companies "loved it" because now they can cut the average jeet making 90k/yr to 85-80k/yr and put a US citizen in the desk.
Basically, it's a massive win with the downside being wages will be stagnated at "only" 80k for some positions for some length of time.
Companies get to report spending is down
Companies get to report hiring is up
Trump gets to say jobs and spending on the us citizen is up
People get jobs
Seems like a decent deal for some small pain in a tad lower than expected salary
