If you're referring to the seeking after signs though, I'd have to somewhat agree with you. Protestants who are constantly looking for proof of the end times are ultimately adulterous in nature. They want to "serve" God but also be free of responsibility. If you believe the world will end (just two more weeks!) then you can just forget about helping your kids become financially independent. You don't need to improve your community in basic ways (clean trash off the streets, fix old properties, clean graffiti off walls, ect) either. It's just an excuse to become completely insular in nature since if the world is ending you may as well just focus on sorting out your affairs with your family and beating strangers over the head with religious messaging (instead of deeper art that speaks to the soul).
