Classic error. The public never realizes anything. They never have important insights. They're cowards and idiots who conform to power, either threats of harm/exclusion or the incentive of acceptance, wealth, or rewards for themselves. You keep worrying about "people waking up" because you're pozzed by egalitarian populist ideals from liberal upbrining. There will never be a mass awakening that leads to anything you want. Populism, egalitarianism, democracy, etc, are designed to degrade populations to keep power for certain groups (oligarchs, etc).
