The spirit world is vast, there is no one entity pulling the strings. "Selling your soul" is a bit of an exaggeration. But entities make agreements with people. Judeo-christian monotheist mindsets have programmed people to assume it's all evil, all-or-nothing, make a deal with "the devil" and you'll burn in hell for all eternity. But it's very similar to an agreement between two human parties: They have to be careful not to be scammed by the other entity. For most people, perhaps best not to make a deal at all because it would be like making a deal with someone who lives overseas who sent you a scam email.
Hollywood is a very high-energy environment, so it attracts a lot of entities that want to feed off of that energy.
I'm a spiritualfag, spent a lot of time doing psychedelics and going to parties and such, so I've been approached by some "gray" entities. They have made various offers to me over time, like to teach me how to steal, how to be a bdsm domme. If you are very level-headed and express that you won't be scammed, the entities reveal they can be quite sophisticated and make better offers.
So most celebrities, they probably fell into some weird agreement they aren't conscious off and accidently gave consent to, others, like the celebrities you see that handle fame well and are level headed, mature, intelligent and secretly spiritual, I bet they have agreements with entities that are fair and balanced. It's not all simplistic "sell your soul for eternity!" fundie hysteria. Non-physical entities are like people, if you stumble around and act like a gullible suckers, they'll take advantage of you. But if you are smart and know how to negotiate they'll meet you at your level.
