Being there are people out there attracted to minors who know it's wrong and don't act on it. The doctor in questions was researching this to try to see how those methods might help prevent children coming under sexual assault.
One of the main talking points was someone fighting against it can't talk about it being people freak out and screech pedo. Yet if you give them a chance in a clinical setting and at least stop screeching pedo, being they haven't acted out yet, maybe successful preventative methods can be found.

I don’t think they’ll ever drop it, because they’ve done irreversible damage to their bodies or worse their children’s bodies. They would have to face the fact they’ve harmed themselves or a loved one. Society will move on, and pretend it didn’t happen but they will never give it up.
