Very few of the star trek races seemed like they had the capability of interstellar travel. The Kazon are a particularly good example. Space Palestinians. The Packled are another, too fucking stupid to make it out of their own atmosphere. Even the Klingons are ridiculous.

They are like the first cavemen. In tribes. All together united in the one goal to survive and to gain more. Beyond that, there's no compatibility between each tribe/clan. They weren't a pro/positive addition to the story but something to fill the story. The kazons are useless brick in the wall that is the red line of the voyager. Nothing new. It really did, holy shit. Anyway, Voyager has a handful of really good episodes and a few really lousy ones, the majority of it is somewhat middle of the road and doesn't come close to peak seasons 3-6 TNG or 3-7 DS9, or even the lesser seasons of those shows which still have their moments, despite being generally slower and more awkward - season 7 of TNG aside because I think they kindof stopped giving a fuck by then for the most part.

The Kazons were just thuggier Klingons. Adding based Seska into the mix was fun though.

The aliens in Voyager were the best in the series. So many interesting and truly alien cultures that defied the traditional Star Trek formula, since they were completely removed from the normal part of the Galaxy, anything goes. The Vidiian comes to mind as the most dramatic example of what I'm talking about. They literally harvest organs from people to extend their lives due to that mass extinction plague. That is some brutal horror Science Fiction storytelling. I wish Sci Fi would lean more into the horror aspect of space travel, because it really is terrifying if there are hundreds and hundreds of alien cultures all over the galaxy and we're just one small dot.
