Does anyone have a good response to this graph? It really does seem like the US's best years are when Blue is in charge and then Red fucks it up all again. I know the debt isn't everything but it is a damn important marker of how the country is doing economically.

Back when it was the opposite, the Dems would say that there's an eight year delay on the economy from a POTUS's policies. So maybe in reality it's all bullshit.

it was reagan's policies that allowed the dotcom boom and rise of silicon valley to happen, clinton only took credit and in response shipped our manufacturing overseas and forced banks to give out garbage loans to niggers that had no way of paying them back which crashed the economy in 08

So each time times got rough they had to hire a Republican to get the things back on track?

Did you look at the graph? The line goes down in the red areas and up in the blue areas.

Are you blind or something? The downturn always happens before the change of office. In both directions.

Economy doesn't change over night. It's a process of policies. Downturn and upturn change gradually with some inertia. After policies get in action it takes some time until the effects become visible in the economy. Like anon >>518701336
said, you don't understand how things work.
Also your 2 party system causes that especially mid term the opposition often hinders the president's scope of action roughly speaking.
So it's mostly Democrat presidents who benefit from Republican politics.

The graph is pretty clear that things have been trending downward for 60 years regardless of who is in charge.
