The more medical science moved away from natural remedies, the more medical scientists realised that their pharmakeia is counterproductive and that fundamentally the only thing that can heal a disease is your own body.
Doctors are flooding patients with chemotherapy to the brink of death, and patients just wanna sit outside for 30 minutes before they croak and make a sudden recovery.
Who'd have thought that being locked in a hospital ward without sunlight means your mitochondria shut down and you die of the resulting disease.
It seems obvious.
Wanna know the stupid part? They already knew that, and refuse to implement changes to hospital wards and the general structure to bring more sunlight into the rooms.
It's difficult enough to get permission to bring patients outside. Bureaucrats want to feel important and won't give permission unless this was their entire idea and get to take all the credit for something they didn't do.
Unironically, fewer people would die if there were fewer pharmaceutical treatments available and there was no fucking choice but to drink clean sanitised water and sit in the sun for an hour every day.
