The common issue with leftist thinking is that it does not take reality into account. It takes a curated version of it, leftists will try and say that history and science back them up but then in the same sentence say something that is either proven wrong easily or has no proof to back it up at all. They practice/use multiple forms of relativism when they try to say why others are wrong yet when they need to say something is true all of a sudden there are concrete standards and ideas which do not shift. This is to say nothing about the dishonesty, the amount of feigned ignorance and misconstrued points is staggering whenever they try to debate. It’s gotten to the point where they consider debate as a whole to be useless and they shame anyone that attempts it outright despite being the very people that once said that words are a valid form of protest and yadda yadda yadda. The more I learn the more baffling they become. I have also found a pattern when looking for the type of person that buys into these sorts of ideals and way of thinking. It’s not a matter of class, nor specific ethnicity despite what some may think. It more has to do with various chemical imbalances in the brain as well as physical abnormalities. The sorts of people that hate themselves but at the same time suffer from a severe kind of narcissism so they project that hatred onto everyone because they cannot admit that they are the problem.

Leftists aren't all the same. One kind of leftist is less capable of complex emotions and complex thoughts than you are. He will confuse disgust for fear, because those aren't separate emotions for him. Extreme cases may think love merely is the absence of fear, because he can't feel love. He will think the only reason why the resource distribution policy he championed failed is hoarders and other sabotage, because he can't imagine that resources aren't infinite.
The other kind of leftist is aware that she is wrong. She will lie, hoping to convince you (or someone else, like the government) to take some action. She doesn't desire what she claims the result of the action will be, but what she thinks the result of the action will be.
The third kind are a combination of the two first.

Yes. The manipulators, often narcissists and psychopaths, are typically the leaders. The useful idiots, able to feel sympathy for people in general but less able to have more sympathy for their own than they have for strangers, are typically the followers.
