My kids will be allowed to live with me as long as they want, 18 or 80 I don’t give a fuck. My mom and dad never would have done that to me, and did in fact not. Some people's parents are dicks, some are too soft. Mine are/were cool, not greedy, not assholes at all.
I got lucky I guess. When the two of them separated, they never divorced or fought for custody or needed to fight for child support.

He could have legally worked w2 since the age of 14. Before that he could rake leaves, dog walk, babysit, mow lawns. He could have had about 80k saving while others paid the bills. He didn't. If you are waiting 8 years after the age of 10 to be autonomous independent you are 8 years behind. Do have sympathy for the fellow but if you are born of an ignorant do nothing mother who is also inept and fiscally illiterate you should take advantage while she keeps the lights on free of charge. The only time you are a child is from the end of toddler to puberty. Best start realizing that hard truth.

it was a good system back when every generation did better then the generation that came before. but every gen since boomers has done worse so its very outdated now. boomers left home at 18 and by 20 they had a wife and bought a house
