Yes it does. Because if you recall, Pontius Pilate the Roman Governor had judged Christ and claimed to have found “No fault” in Him. The Romans did not actually want to kill Christ, maybe imprisonment at best, public humiliation via flogging at worst. Overall the Romans did not care about Jesus. Judea was just one province out of many the Romans controlled. They did not care for the ramblings of Jewish mythos, because their religion was beneath them. They especially didnt care that some Christ guy was offending the faith of Jews, because that wasn’t a Roman’s problem to care about.
But the Sanhedrin and their Pharisees, they were the ones with everything to lose. If their own people followed Christ and not them, they lose power. So they convinced Rome to kill Christ, and all they had to do was make Rome worry over a change of local power bringing possible instability. In other words, Jewish lawyering is what got Christ sentenced to death.
