Bullshit Jobs = Peak Decadence
How do we solve the bullshit jobs problem?
Bullshit jobs account for the majority of the economy, which means they control society and offer nothing of value.
More damningly, they precious waste resources, the loss of which causes our behavioral sink and culture war problems.

>How do we solve the bullshit jobs problem?
We don't have a bullshit jobs problem. We have a bullshit work week problem. So many things have been automated since the genesis of the 40-hour work week. By now we should be at a 20-hour work week at the absolute maximum.

The bullshit jobs problem is caused by cheap energy and the consumption of that energy with a lack of creativity as to what to do with it. The reason we can't just scale back work hours is that we can't scale back consumption. If we scale back consumption, the market crashes. The market is in control, not the elite.

>Justifying this rebellion was the intent to establish a republic along an imposing liberal paradigm. It's leaders simply did what was necessary, with the opportunity available, and with what could be capitalized upon as the world became increasingly transformed by a liberal imperative to prepare for the inevitable future setting we live now.

This is word salad from someone trying really hard to make their statements sound more intellectual and logical than they really are.

The service economy...where all jobs are for homosexuals, raging leftists, communists, weirdos and worse, is all the west has left. China and other assorted backwaters have all the production now. So the west will tread water in a big bucket until it drowns.

Bullshit jobs exist because of jewish adult daycare and the "necessity" of keeping people employed. This is very similar to why DEI exists. "Spreads the wealth" to niggers and women. It's sort of backdoor communism.

>Bullshit jobs in five categories: flunkies, goons, duct tapers, box tickers, and taskmasters.
Jobs are bullshit when they are inefficient uses of human capital, aka free time.
Real jobs would be efficient use of time. We have a white collar workforce as a result of an empire which sent blue collar work overseas, which was possible because controlling physical resources like oil. We can't justify this when we can't use those white collar workers effectively, and when we try to make everyone happy, we get a behavioral sink where everyone has wealth and no one is happy, and ultimately we're at the point where the demographics collapse because of this.
If we had less energy, less work would be bullshit.
If we continue to develop technology (as in, discover more sources of energy or develop more creative uses of it), we only further this problem.

No, bullshit jobs exist as a pathetic method to wring every last cent out of the market, because "line must go up". There is never austerity because austerity and collapse are synonymous in this system.

>Graeber argued that the Occupy Wall Street movement's lack of recognition of the legitimacy of either existing political institutions or the legal structure, its embrace of non-hierarchical consensus decision-making and of prefigurative politics made it a fundamentally anarchist project. Comparing it to the Arab Spring, he claimed that Occupy Wall Street and other contemporary grassroots protests represented "the opening salvo in a wave of negotiations over the dissolution of the American Empire."

I think this is why they would have killed him.

When "kept busy" also implies energy consumption, you're simply adding energy cost for no real benefit and accelerating us towards a crisis of scarcity.

Except the Arab Spring was a CIA/State-Department operation, just like the Color Revolutions. And OWS started out legit but got COINTELPRO'd very quickly with the "Progressive Stack" as the wedge used to fracture the movement and run a D&C on it.

That doesn't solve the problem though, and ironically AI is very energy intensive. We're burning energy for no reason. Your share of total energy consumption is your wealth. As consumption grows but your share stays static, your wealth and power decreases.
Anonymous (ID: HY5wxuhA) United States No.519239284 [Report] >>519241303
>>519239060
To add: if energy consumption increases but energy production increases more, meaning your share of total consumption actually increases (even if the percent of it is static), then you win. That's called a successful investment. Bullshit jobs are failed investments, and we should see the modern economy as exactly that. Creating more efficient machines to run the modern economy doesn't make it less of a failed investment. It just means no one argues when the machine gets shut down.

OK it's not a global solution, but it is what is going to happen. AI is cheaper than hiring people, for anything AI can do.

And the total energy consumption for AI to produce, say, the annual work product of a junior lawyer for a year, is probably under $100 worth. The AI will be used and more energy than that, but the work product will be much greater.

Have any of you actually read this book? It's not that insightful. It's just a string of anecdotes connected with some meandering theories. Bullshit jobs created by regulations/government incentives make sense, but the author claims there are several other realms of bullshit jobs out there, accounting for a staggering percentage of employment, yet offers no mechanism explaining their continued existence.
Some bullshit jobs doubtlessly exist but most of the whining you see about this supposed phenomenon is just NEET and service sector wagies who are mad at work they don't understand. "Waaah this white collar woman makes more than me, her job must be BULLSHIT!"
