One of the greatest tragedies of the modern era is that eugenics has gotten a bad name. Eugenics would genuinely improve life on Earth and human civilization for everyone, immeasurably, even lower IQ people. That it is a non-starter is a real shame, hopefully someday soon the social mores will change and we can start getting serious about eugenics.

As for other traits that you want to improve, for example, IQ, you don't liquidate everyone under the level of midwit, you just make sure that they have a smaller share of the gene pool each generation compared with the intelligent. This way, everyone gets to participate in reproduction, but negative traits are slowly phased out over generations. The smart will love it because they have privileged breeding rights, and the less intelligent will accept it because their children will have increasingly better breeding options with each generation. Everybody wins.

It's a terrible thing and is the most credible existential threat to our entire existence. There is no such thing as better genes or worse genes, all genes got through evolution - all have their uses, if a trait is somehow pleasing to you that does not mean it's good for humankind in general, it just means that for whatever often arbitrary reason it seems good to your instinct at the time. Sure it is hard to defend some really bad genes like those that cause Huntington's, people with those conditions are cautioned not to reproduce and they understand it and willingly comply. People with the idea of something like let's make everyone's muscles bigger and bigger through eugenics - do not have a proper understanding of the world or how genetics works.

Yes because first of all intelligence is a completely enigmatic thing - there is no real way to objectively say one person is more intelligent than another. I seriously hope you aren't taken in by the iq myth or the idea that if someone has more general knowledge or something like that they are smarter.

Furthermore, intelligence has actually caused a lot of harm and destroyed the world in many ways. The world wouldn't be at risk of being obliterated if humans were somewhat less intelligent, especially in some ways. Yes we all wish we personally and our family were more intelligent but that doesn't mean it would be better overall. Fetishizing more intelligence is a bad road to go down.

While it could be tempting to say these are the ideal things we want and these are things we don't want, it's a road bound for disaster.

On the contrary, I think race definitely exists and also that races have different physical and mental abilities despite all the denial about it. I think that the mistake is in assuming that there's a single type of intelligence or that more intelligence is better in the first place. It's just a fact of life. Maybe just stop assuming that people are superior because they can perform certain mental feats that people made up.
