Dreaming about having kids is one thing.
Dreaming about the kind of kids you're going to have is dumb. Good genes are great, but spending your life looking for a partner so you can have a kid that's a doctor or a finance bro is like dreaming what you're going to spend your lotter winnings on.

It's more a criticism of how a lot of men dream about having kids to have them but don't conceive of them doing any work to raise it. They want to be all trad with their tradwife but forget dads are super active in their child's life in such relationships. They don't want a kid to raise and love, they want to parade it around and have other people take care of it

If I want kids with a woman, it means I want her taking care of them, picking berries, and weaving baskets at home, while I'm out dealing with the harshness of the world she wants no part of.

I wonder why kind of answer she is hoping for. For men, there’s family life and then there’s professional achievements.

The only difference is is that men achieve these things professionally and their families benefit from it. Men that are dedicated to their craft earn more and provide a better life. Men that start a business of their own can hire their own family and teach them, handing down the business as a result.
You don't have to mention your family because it's implied that the more successful you are the better off your family becomes. Your wife gets a better life, your children do.
Women think this is some enorm "GOTCHA" because their careers and the pursuit of their "dreams" usually run contrast to the general welfare of the family, while a man pursuing his ambitions practically always benefits the family.
It's just another example of women being so solipsistic they believe their lives, thoughts, and experiences are 1:1 the same as men.

If having children is a dream and goal then how do they fit into those dreams and goals? Second, no shit they don't "fit into" the goal of being a nascar driver, they don't have a passenger seat there. And yet somehow I still see fathers making left turns and their kids still grow up.

Kids are just a thing that happens. Most men don't live their life making themselves look pretty with the goal of meeting prince charming one magical evening and having a big wedding and a wonderful honeymoon and going on to have a bunch of kids the way women might. Not a bad exercise, really, but this isn't the big gotcha they might think it is. A man's dream is to provide for a big family, not just take care of the house. Where will they money come from?
