It's funny, that picture offends me more than his policies. His ideas are pipe dreams; they'll never succeed and will get blocked by courts and lack of funding. As for his policies, they are all implementable and I believe they will be successful.
It's funny, shit has objectively gotten worse in the city and despite the fact no one has ever tried anything new the minute someone proposes a real fundamental change people act like the sky is falling.
We've never even tried things like defunding police, making transit free, freezing the rent, or non-profit grocery stores. In theory all of those things should help actual New Yorkers. But the right wing screams "NOOOO that will make the problems worse!" again despite the fact the problems have been getting worse and we've never tried anything different.
Worse case scenario we all say "OK that didn't work" in 4 years and elect another right wing business puppet like we've always done

shit. NYC without NYPD enforcement is a nightmare. I grew up in NYC in the late 70s through the 90s. It was tough. Look at what started happening during the pandemic. Things started backsliding when Rudy left office, but started to really accelerate then. And those tough years still were full of mainly Americans in NYC.

If Mamdani gets into power and defunds the NYPD or tells them to stand down more than they already do stand down (even under Adams), it's going to be fucked. And this is with the sheer amount of criminal foreigners in NYC now, too. A lot of the foreigners who moved to NYC back in the day moved to try to carve out a better life in NYC. Now the foreigners are just there for gibs. They're not starting small businesses and hustling. They're just living off handouts and causing problems.

And all of this is not even taking into account what will happen when more of the wealthy taxbase and corporations continue to flee.

I love NYC, even though I left in 2013 when things were backsliding. But The City is just a few bad decisions away from returning to the feral 70s/80s. But this time it will be even worse.
