I found it pretty hardcore that during all of Covid, not one scientist could form a realistic opinion on the matter. If I had been the king in 2020, I'd have done the following, and this is not hindsight, this is what I recommended in 2020 and 2021 while consulting the government as a mathematical expert:
- In contact tracing, find cooperative environments. In these, search for exclusive circumstances to find the importance of speaking/food transmission vs. aerosol. Complement this with rigorous lab experiments on infectious virus emission, not PCR, but infection of animals with similar tissue. After the emergence of Covid parties, I'd have recruited such youths as lab rats to get definitive results.
- Explain to people how infections work in social networks, which is essentially the chain reaction problem. Show them videos of speech spit and indoor smoke, depending on the found transmission pathways.
- Tell people that this is a marathon of continuous improvement, to minimize measures with increasing efficiency and immunity.
- Mix a conventional adjuvant + spike vaccine immediately, vaccinate volunteers and distribute to high risk groups through the influenza vax network early on. This would have scaled to all people 60+ easily, in spring 2020.
- Squash the age/death bullshit by getting crippling rates early on, simply by medically testing early patients every few weeks for years and compare to baseline, with public data.

That stuff is a decent treatment for less severe chronic autoimmune disease, but not for acute inflammation from a massive lung infection, it's simply not potent enough. And if it were, it wouldn't be a good idea to take it as a precaution, it would worsen the infection.
