Now that 3I/Atlas is making a turn towards Earth and the USA is readying up for the humiliation ritual of a century failing to invade Venezuela, soon Maduro will be called up to join the UN Defense Council and provide guidance on how the superpowers can defeat the aliens.

President Diaz is one of the coolest characters in the series, so we look forward to the future.

You can skip to book 2 if you want, because it is the epic psychological thriller one. Book 1 is just a mystery / crime novel.

Book 1, we learn that:

>book 1 is a detective story about Dr. Wang and a detective trying to figure out why the world scientists are killing themselves, which is because the trissolarians have sent a subatomic supercomputer called sophons that can observe everything that happens on Earth and sabotage all scientific progress, generate visual illusions, hack all machines, sabotage tests, etc
>aliens are supported by the Earth-Trissolaris Organization (ETO) who want the Earth to fall for one reason or another (some just want humans to die, others care for the environment, others want to be friends with aliens...)
>book 1 ends with the major leader of the ETO being killed and their ship being destroyed, shortly after he was abandoned by the aliens once the aliens discovered that humans are capable of lying / deception
>book 2 is all about humanity using lies and deception to formulate a strategy to defeat the aliens despite technological advancement being stopped by the sophons

The books are pretty good though. There's a based part where the aliens and humans are in a truce do to mutually assured destruction, in which a man holds a "key" that when activated, would reveal both the alien and our location to the entire galaxy, and thus would we and the aliens be immediately destroyed by a third, far more advanced species. However, once this key holder gives his key to a woman, the trisolarians (aliens from alpha Centauri en route to invade earth) immediately break the truce and attack humans because they knew a woman wouldn't have the balls to activate the key.

Well, this book series is called sexist frequently. Mostly, it is women dooming Earth over pettiness over and over again, which speaks to the chinese ethos. The author's particular life was filled with such women, who cannot see beyond themselves and end up taking catastrophic decisions for others due to having a lot of courage to start problems but not enough to solve them.

The netflix series is trash I couldn't sit through the first episode. I'm talking about the original chang series. Which is also fucking shit. I expect they didn't change that much from the book. The worst thing is how retarded the aliens are.
