GROUND INVASION OF VENEZUELA
WOKE IS OVER.
AMERICA IS BACK.
It's time to give Maduro the Saddam Hussein treatment. Who else is enlisting?
Concerns military action of this kind could spark an escalation were outlined in the 2018 report.
'More than 100,000 troops would be needed'
"Venezuela isn’t Grenada or Panama, the two Latin American countries invaded by the U.S. during the closing days of the Cold War. Instead, it is twice the size of Iraq with only a slightly smaller population, and teeters on the verge of chaos. Any invasion requires preparations on a similar scale, meaning a 100,000-plus force," it notes.
The CFR report also predicted U.S. troops would be "unlikely to receive a warm welcome." Most Venezuelans oppose any kind of invasion or military intervention. The report adds that the American forces would reinforce and partially legitimize Maduro’s unpopular right by legitimizing his frequent plans of "imperialist plots."
The report adds that, like Iraq, American troops will likely find themselves there for a long time, as Venezuela's infrastructure "has been devastated." This means that electricity, sewage, hospitals, and schools are all running poorly and are funded poorly, leaving U.S. troops either without basics, or forcing them to commit to fixing it.
