It's fascinating isn't it? Some of the prior i've known are honestly great people and usually above average intelligence but at some point in their lives they reached social barriers they couldn't overcome and in some ways, despite being angry they don't have it in them to take it out on others. But the other side in my opinion are more prone to violence, like most lower iq people are, and the two get conflated as the same. It's really a shame because I've wanted to help a lot of these people that i've known and there is just so much internal and emotional damage they can't overcome it.
I think in some ways it's similar to the hikikomori situation in japan, which I believe to the be the best documentation on the particular people your describing.
