you dont understand how islam works, because you are confused by christianities universalism. You got mistaken by western ideas, which are based on christian ideas.
So christianity is about universal brotherhood, the religion IS 'the group'. This is a very radical and unusual point of view.
Everyone else is highly tribal.
Jews are tribal, there are just the one tribe and the religion is for them.
Islam is also very tribal, in that there are countless tribes of arabs. The mistake is assuming that the religion is like christianity. What islam is is a sort of political framework for arab tribal politics. They will all go on happily killing each other. Its kind of like the UN for arabs.
