Anyone else on food stamps getting a little worried about how they're gonna make it this November? Cause even though we JUST got groceries, I really don't know if it'll be enough for the month and shit, unless my mom can find a way to get more groceries during this time.

I do know there's a food pantry near my place, so in case we need to we can head there, but still can't help but feel a little anxious about it

(Not asking for sympathy or advice btw, just wanted to know if anyone else was also feeling the same way about it, cause I know everyone else is freaking out about it on the news and shit.

Buy 2 bags of flour, bag of sugar, pack of salt and a bottle of seed oils. You can feed yourself for a month for like 20 dollars. This sucks, but you will not starve and in fact that’s how people used to eat for centuries. After a month you will likely get your benefits back

I am getting a job in November though, so hopefully I can help out a little and shit (It's only $16/hr, but it'll do for now)

I think it carries over to the next month, but I think that just depends on how you spend it and stuff (there was one month where we didn't spend much, and it got carried over to the next month i think)

So for non-meat sources you can get at least something like rice + beans (good efficient non-animal protein source, each on their own has incomplete plant-based sources of protein, but when combined they give the complete proteins our body needs for health, each adds to and completes the other), or peanut butter (incomplete plant-based protein but better than nothing), or any protein-rich forms of dairy (milk, cottage cheese, yogurt or especially Greek yogurt, a plus being they’re compete protein). Or also eggs of course, also a great animal source of complete protein. Obviously not necessarily all of these, but any mix-and-match that helps ensure you get some good blend of protein and carbs that sees you through the month.

I hate that this is happening and am sorry to see it. More and more of the average American citizens have been fucked over by the economy, there are certainly at least some cases of some people just “mooching our welfare system” but I think it’s heartless and also overly arrogant to apply that to ALL people who might need benefits. Again, the American economy has been increasingly fucking over the average person over the years and decades, job market’s brutal and there’s massive inflation and increased costs of everything from groceries to rent to college education/student loan debt, let alone to the price of being a homeowner, so I don’t automatically condemn someone for being on SNAP.
