I wage-cage at a grocery story with a heavy EBT user base. Most of my co-workers didn't even know there was a gov shut down or anything at all about EBT.
Nobody runs and tackles shoplifters now. The store has loss prevention and I assume they will have more shifts and hours. Other wise, unless the zero EBT goes on for months and hours are cut due to low holiday sales it will not really impact workers.
I also doubt there will be a chimp out. The bulk of ebt users aren't gansta niggers . It's ton of broke families. Most are clearly being supplemented vs 100% feed by SNAP. So realistically all that will really happen is sales are going to drop.
So the end of the month store slow down with hour cuts will be much harsher than normal. I don't care being I don't really need much money for my boring do nothing life style.

It's always a rolling date over the course nearly 2 weeks. So stores can restock and handle the shopping load. Being you also get a SSI shoppers and just normal payday buyers.
Freight loads for end of the month at my store is like 1200 cases dry products, 300 frozen and maybe 300 deli. Peak shit hits the fan first two weeks can easily be 2000/500/800 or higher

Depends on the food item and what the store thinks they can make on discounting it vs throwing it away and continuing to "preserve the value" of the item by not selling it for cheaper.
