I would imagine America's would be negatively impacted by Hispanic families still speaking Spanish at home, and Black families still speaking Ebonics outside of school, negatively impacting the development of English literacy (which is the only language proficiency reflected by official stats for America) amongst those groups

You can teach anyone anything given a malleable childhood, there's kids out there taught to recite the Koran without even knowing Arabic, they can quote the sounds of the text and not even tell you what each word means

Reading hiragana and katakana is actually super easy. I was able to fully read it and use the Japanese flick keyboard within just 2 weeks

They spend insane amounts of time on language learning relative to westerners, and even then a lot of eastern reading material is printed with training wheels because most people can't really be expected to know too many runes.
