How would you like to get drafted by the Old Country?
If you're an 18-19yo boy of Croatian ancestry, please reconsider your plans for the next year.
About half of Croats live outside its borders. If you're South American or Australian there's a good chance you're Croatian doble citizen. Croats can be found in all EU countries and USA as well. Are you willing to sacrifice your zoomers for a country they've probably never been to?
Keep in mind this is not the only country that does this.
Are we going to see the end of dual citizenship or will this move introduce our diaspora to our country, making them want to return home?

Millions of Euros have dual citizenship. You'll be hard pressed not to have at least someone with dual citizenship in your family. I feel weird for not having dual as well since my ancestry is very mixed.

What are they going to do? Send threatening letters? The only real weapon would be extradition, but the alleged offence would need to be an offence in both countries with usually a minimum of one year imprisonment as punishment. The reality is that this makes it virtually impossible to extradite in most countries, regardless of single or dual nationality. Just don't go back home.

You can't take away citizenship. How would that work? Just make sure you have a valid passport and jump through whatever hoops you need to jump through to get it. In the end they can't refuse. It took me 3 months for my last one and they tried every hoop they could think of, but it's just bureaucracy. And yes, I was a military draft dodger a long time ago. They still can't refuse. Come and arrest me, please. But they can't. And I'm not returning. But I still get a passport. Lol

You will need to do more than that to satisfy your government. In the UK you need to sever your domicile as well. Even without UK passport you may still be classed as UK domiciled which has tax implications. Look into it. It's not as simple as not having a passport and being shacked up in Vietnam with a ricer.

In WW2 too, because we were fragmented Hitler could easily use our countries in the war.
