Yeah, it’s actually fairly hot in the summer. That’s what’s so nice about the lakes that surround the state. The Great Lakes are some of the largest freshwater lakes on the planet, and they regulate the temperature. It’s also more humid here than it would be without them, due to evaporation. In winter it is well below freezing, in summer it’s more than 85 on the hottest days.
It depends where you live in the state, because it’s very tall. I live in the Southeast, which is generally the warmest part, yet it still gets cold. It’s fascinating, the south and the north can be 15 degrees of separation (Fahrenheit) on the same day.
Last summer, I went up to Mackinac Island (BEAUTIFUL, visit if you ever come here) and I had to buy a jacket on the island, because I planned for the weather conditions of my home in the south, lol. It was far North and right by water so I was freezing!
Michigan is split by the Upper Peninsula and Lower Peninsula, and the Northern half of the Lower Peninsula and all of the UP are the cold areas.
