The purpose of AI was never to save the people. Its purpose is to generate big profits by being the biggest technological development since the commercialization of the internet in the 90s.
That means people losing jobs -- lots of people.
But I do agree AI is for the best. The jobs being lost are shitty jobs that no right-thinking, non-brainwashed, non-desperate person would ever want in the first place.
Of course there will be a hard transition in the coming years as half the workforce becomes unnecessary and has to find a new way to survive.
UBI is inevitable because it'll be the only way to prevent social chaos when more than half the population is living with no income.
But UBI won't be enacted without a struggle, nor will it be enacted quickly.
So AI is all for the best, the same way industrialization was for the best, and the agricultural revolution was too. But the good outcome AI will achieve will take a while to get, just like the Industrial Revolution didn't improve ordinary people's lives until like a century later in the mid 1900s, and the dawn of agricultural took a couple millennia before people started having better lives than they had in pre-agricultural societies.
There is always a hard transition in these leaps of progress and standard of life, when people have to go backward for a while and suffer too, even for generations, but in the end, and for every following generation, life is vastly improved.
