The problem is that literally nobody will pay this and the ultra wealthy aren't subjected to income tax, so all it does is create a large gap between the upper middle and billionaire class while reducing overall tax intake.

Increase the income tax for rich, and you'll just complain "they're just using loopholes to get around it!" (they probably will be)
The government will still blow that increased tax revenue on overseas shit, or throwing the taxes into the endless hole that is "social programs for the black community"
Even if they taxed all the rich people so that every average american would get a 4000 dollar check, they'd literally just blow it on iphones and going out to eat. then they'd complain it wasn't enough, we want MORE taxes for billionaires. Meanwhile you'd still have your student loans, you'd still have your 5 figures of credit card debt, and you'd still be demanding someone else get taxed more while you REFUSE to cut down your going out to eat budget, or REFUSE to stop speding 160 dollars a month for your phone bill.

It's all the same. People ARE asking for billionares to be taxed so that student loans could be paid off. If you paid off the average american's student loans, then their door dash budget would just go up the amount of money they saved on their student loans. If you taxed billionaires to reduce or eliminate health care premiums, instead of putting that money towards a home downpayment, or investing it, the sales of iphones and ps5s would just skyrocket. No difference than a stimmie check, there isn't magical buckets of money that can only be used for one purpose, and a "fun money" budget. There is only one budget, the one that americans refuse to use.

I can't imagine any of them actually paid that, which is what people really don't understand, you put up taxes the wealthy put their money into tax exempt securities, or put it into charitable trusts that they control, then borrow from those trusts for their living expenses, then when they die that debt dissolves.
This is what people fail to understand, if a guy made 10 million dollars in a year, it's much easier for him to spend 500k to avoid paying 9.1 million.

It is unjust.
If you pay in taxes more than 50% of your income, you don't work for yourself, you work for the State. You become a serf, a slave of the State. Why should the State want so much money?

Also, there is free movement of capital and people in the west. If you put a 91% income tax on the 1%, then they will move to another country with lower taxes. You end up causing the flight of the people who pay most of the taxes.

People like Bill Gates, Elon Musk or Jess Bezos deserve all of their money. Bill Gates probably deserves even more money, especially if you take into account how common it's been for Windows to be pirated since the 90s.

Why would it matter? It's not going to solve the deficit. If you give swamp creatures more money they will just steal more of it.
Currency devaluation and permanent deficit spending is happening by design. You can tax everyone 100%, you still won't have a balanced budget.
