I don't think it was the pilot. Based on what I saw in the footage, it looked like it was shot down. But not by a missile, more like incendiary small arms or anti-materiel round(s). Why? As a Major General Edwin Walker-esque precursor 'proof of concept' for something bigger. I can't even imagine the nightmare of the people in their homes on the ground, suddenly covered in thousands of gallons of flaming jet fuel. Extremely fucked up.

Haven't seen anything concrete yet, but high def of pics of the engine laying on the damn runway were posted immediately after the crash. Too fast to hit the brakes, not fast enough to generate adequate lift for a go around.
